The Northern Kentucky Norse, representing Northern Kentucky University, have a rich history that dates back to the establishment of the university in 1968. Initially, the university was a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) before transitioning to NCAA Division II in the late 1970s. The Norse experienced significant success in their early years, particularly in men's basketball.
