    Montana Grizzlies History

    The Montana Grizzlies, the athletic teams representing the University of Montana, have a rich history dating back to their establishment in 1897. The Grizzlies are particularly well-known for their football program, which began in 1897 and has grown into a powerhouse in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Grizzly football team plays its home games at Washington-Grizzly Stadium, which opened in 1986 and has a capacity of 25,217, making it one of the most intimidating venues in college football.
