East Texas A&M Lions History
The East Texas A&M Lions, representing East Texas A&M University, have a storied history in collegiate athletics that dates back to the early 20th century. Originally known as the East Texas State Normal College, the institution began participating in competitive sports in the 1900s. The football program, initiated in 1904, quickly became a point of pride for the school, with the Lions achieving early success in the Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
