Valparaiso University Basketball History

The team, known as the Valparaiso Crusaders, has played in several conferences over the years, including the Indiana Intercollegiate Conference and the Mid-Continent Conference. One of the defining moments in the program's history came in the 1990s when the Crusaders made a name for themselves on the national stage. Under the leadership of Coach Homer Drew, the team achieved notable success, including a memorable run in the 1998 NCAA Tournament, where they reached the Sweet 16. The team's victory over Mississippi in the first round, highlighted by a last-second three-pointer, became a defining moment in NCAA tournament history. The Crusaders' success continued into the 2000s, with appearances in the NCAA tournament and strong performances in conference play.
