UTEP Miners Volleyball History
The UTEP Miners Volleyball program began in 1975, as part of the University of Texas at El Paso's athletic department. Initially competing as an independent team, they established themselves as a contender in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in the late 1990s. Under the guidance of various coaches, the program has seen many ups and downs in its performance, including appearances in conference tournaments and individual accolades. The team's legacy includes numerous All-Conference selections and a commitment to developing young talent. A significant milestone came in 2013 when the Miners earned a spot in the NCAA tournament. This historical achievement highlighted the team's growth and competitiveness within collegiate volleyball. As the program continued to develop, UTEP focused on improving facilities and enhancing recruitment efforts, contributing to a more stable and successful team environment in recent years. The Miners have built a solid fan base and routinely play their home matches at the Don Haskins Center, where crowds turn out to support the team.
