Trace Mountains History
Trace Mountains, the musical project of Dave Benton, emerged from the intricate indie-rock landscape of the United States in the mid-2010s. Originally founded as a solo venture, Benton utilized the project to explore deeply personal narratives while incorporating his varied influences from shoegaze, folk, and lo-fi pop. The project took shape following Benton’s time with the band Slonk Donkerson, where he gained both experience and inspiration. In 2018, Trace Mountains released its debut album, 'A Partner to Lean On,' which showcased a blend of introspective lyrics and melodic soundscapes, quickly gaining traction within the indie music community. This release set the stage for Benton’s evolution, allowing him to develop a distinct sound characterized by atmospheric guitars, layered harmonies, and thoughtful storytelling. As Trace Mountains, Benton has performed at various festivals and venues, earning a reputation for engaging live performances that resonate with audiences, often featuring a backing band that adds depth to the live sound. Over the years, Benton has collaborated with several other artists, further enriching the project's sound and broadening its reach within the indie circuit.
