The Original Wailers History
The Original Wailers are a reggae band that emerged from the rich musical landscape of Jamaica in the 1960s. Formed as a part of the legendary Wailers, which included Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer, they were instrumental in bringing reggae music to a global audience. Initially, the band was known for their harmonious blend of rocksteady and reggae, laying the groundwork for what would become the reggae genre. After Bob Marley's death in 1981, the surviving members of The Wailers continued to perform and record music, but it wasn't until 2008 that The Original Wailers was officially reformed by Al Anderson, a former guitarist for the original band. Al, alongside other musicians, sought to honor the legacy of Bob Marley while infusing contemporary elements into the band’s sound. The Original Wailers quickly gained recognition for their authentic reggae sound and their commitment to preserving the essence of the music that made The Wailers famous. Over the years, they have toured extensively, performing at festivals and venues around the world, and they have released albums that resonate with both long-time reggae fans and new audiences alike.
