The Hives History
The Hives are a Swedish rock band formed in 1993 in Fagersta, Sweden. They rose to prominence in the early 2000s as part of the garage rock revival, a movement that sought to bring back the raw energy of rock and roll. Their debut album, 'Barely Legal,' was released in 1997, but it was their 2000 album, 'Veni Vidi Vicious,' that catapulted them to international fame, featuring the hit single 'Hate to Say I Told You So.' Known for their high-energy performances, the band quickly established a reputation for their electrifying live shows, characterized by frontman Howlin' Pelle Almqvist's charismatic stage presence and the band's tight, energetic playing. Over the years, The Hives have released several successful albums, including 'Tyrannosaurus Hives' (2004) and 'Lex Hives' (2012), each of which contributed to their legacy as one of the standout bands of the garage rock genre. Their music and live performances have influenced a generation of rock musicians, and they have garnered numerous awards, including a Grammy Award for 'Best Hard Rock Performance.'
