The Grapes of Wrath - Band History
The Grapes of Wrath is a Canadian alternative rock band that formed in 1983 in Kelowna, British Columbia. The band originally consisted of brothers Kevin and Tom McLeod, along with guitarist/vocalist Chris Hooper and drummer Claude Pellerin. They gained popularity in the late 1980s with the release of their albums, particularly 'Now and Again' in 1989, which featured hits like 'I Want to Be Your Man' and 'All the Things I Wasn't.' Their unique blend of folk-rock and alternative sound, characterized by melodic harmonies and thoughtful lyrics, helped them carve out a distinct niche in the burgeoning indie scene of the time. They toured extensively across Canada and the United States, sharing stages with other notable bands, and became known for their engaging live performances. However, despite achieving moderate commercial success and critical acclaim, The Grapes of Wrath went on a hiatus in 1992 and didn’t reunite until 2005. Since their reunion, they have released new music and returned to the concert circuit, experiencing a resurgence in popularity and reconnecting with their fanbase.
