The Connells History
The Connells are an American alternative rock band formed in 1984 in Raleigh, North Carolina. The group consists of brothers Mike and David Connell, along with guitarist George Huntley, bassist John Schultz, and drummer Peppy Castro. They gained significant attention in the early 1990s with their hit single, '74-75,' which became a staple on college radio and contributed to the band's cult following. The Connells' sound is characterized by jangly guitars, melodic hooks, and introspective lyrics, which resonated with fans during the rise of the alternative music scene. After several albums and a few lineup changes, the band continued to tour and release new material, maintaining their place in the hearts of fans, especially in the indie and alternative rock communities. Over the decades, their live performances have been marked by energetic sets featuring both classic tracks and newer compositions, showcasing their evolution as musicians while paying homage to their roots.
