The Brains History
The Brains is an energetic psychobilly band hailing from Montreal, Canada, formed in 2000. The band consists of a trio: vocalist and guitarist, Rene De La Muerte; bassist, B. S. Strychnine; and drummer, Chris ‘The Squirrel’ Funderburk. From the outset, they established themselves in the underground music scene with their unique blend of punk rock, rockabilly, and horror film themes, drawing inspiration from classic psychobilly bands such as The Meteors and Flat Duo Jets. They quickly gained traction with their high-octane performances and engaging stage presence, becoming a staple act in the psychobilly scene. Over the years, The Brains released several albums, showcasing their evolution in sound and solidifying their reputation as one of psychobilly's leading bands. Their early work, including the debut album 'The Bastard Sons of a Thousand Elvises' from 2001, set the stage for their distinctive style characterized by infectious rhythms and haunting lyrics. Their relentless touring across North America and Europe helped them build a loyal fanbase, and they became known for their dynamic concerts that highlight their raw energy and unique sound. As of late, The Brains have celebrated over two decades in music, showcasing how they've maintained relevance in a rapidly changing music landscape.
