Symphony San Jose History
Symphony San Jose, officially known as the Symphony Silicon Valley, has a rich history that dates back to its founding in 2002. The orchestra originated from the San Jose Symphony Orchestra, which was established in 1939 but sadly ceased operations in 2001. In response to the community's demand for a symphonic presence, a group of dedicated musicians and community leaders reformed the orchestra, bringing together talented musicians, conductors, and composers to create an ensemble that would enrich the cultural landscape of San Jose. Since its inception, Symphony San Jose has been committed to providing high-quality orchestral performances, engaging with the community, and promoting music education. The orchestra has performed a variety of classical works, contemporary pieces, and seasonal concerts, often collaborating with guest artists, soloists, and choirs. Over the years, it has developed a reputation for its innovative programming and dedication to making classical music accessible to diverse audiences, fostering a love for the arts in the South Bay Area.
