Swervedriver History
Swervedriver is a British alternative rock band formed in 1989 in Oxford, England. The band's signature sound blends elements of shoegaze, space rock, and alternative rock, characterized by thick, swirling guitar layers, driving rhythms, and melodic hooks. Swervedriver first gained prominence in the early '90s with their debut album, 'Raise,' released in 1991, which showcased their unique sound and garnered critical acclaim. The band became a key player in the shoegaze movement, alongside contemporaries like My Bloody Valentine and Ride. After releasing their second album, 'Mezcal Head,' in 1993, which included the hit single 'Duel,' the band continued to tour extensively, establishing a reputation for their energetic live performances. However, after their third album, '99th Dream,' in 1998, the band went on a hiatus. Swervedriver reunited in 2008, and since then, they have released new music, including 'I Wasn't Born to Lose You' in 2015, marking their return to the live music scene. Their concerts are known for their atmospheric soundscapes and an immersive experience that captivates audiences, making them a sought-after act in the alternative rock concert circuit.
