Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks Basketball History
The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks basketball program, representing Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) in Nacogdoches, Texas, has a storied history dating back to its inaugural season in 1923. Established as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Lumberjacks quickly made a name for themselves in collegiate basketball. The team transitioned to NCAA Division II in 1973, competing against a range of universities at that level.
