    Soulive History

Soulive is an American instrumental funk band formed in 1999 in Woodstock, New York. The band originally consisted of brothers Alan and Neal Evans, along with guitarist Eric Krasno. Known for their vibrant, energetic sound, Soulive was heavily influenced by the music of the late 1960s and early 1970s, reminiscent of legends like James Brown and the Meters. Over the years, they have built a reputation for their tight grooves and improvisational prowess, blending jazz, rock, funk, and soul seamlessly. Their debut album, 'Get Down!', was released in 2000 and set the tone for their unique sound. The group gained further recognition when they became the house band at the legendary New York venue, The Blue Note, in the early 2000s, where they collaborated with numerous artists and honed their live performance skills. Various albums followed, including 'Next', 'Strength in Numbers', and 'Cleveland' that showcased their evolving musical style, engaging instrumentation, and ability to create a visceral connection with live audiences. Soulive's history is rich with collaborations; they've worked with a range of musicians from different genres, including the likes of John Mayer and Norah Jones, amplifying their presence in the music scene. Their live shows have been a cornerstone of their identity, marked by improvisation, dynamic interplay among members, and the incorporation of special guests, significantly evolving their live concert experience over the years.
