    The Shreveport Mudbugs are a professional ice hockey team based in Shreveport, Louisiana. Founded in 1997, the Mudbugs initially played in the Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL) before moving to the Central Hockey League (CHL) in 2001. They quickly became a fan favorite in Shreveport, winning their first championship in the 1998-99 season. Known for their passionate fanbase and energetic gameplay, the Mudbugs have seen varying degrees of success throughout their history, including multiple playoff appearances and the remarkable feat of winning the CHL championship in 2002.
