Saint Peter's Peacocks History

The Saint Peter's Peacocks represent Saint Peter's University in Jersey City, New Jersey, and are a Division I college basketball team that competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The university's athletic program was established in 1930, with the Peacocks adopting their name in the 1930s, inspired by the peacock, a symbol of pride and resilience. In the early years, the team participated in various local leagues before joining the NCAA in 1957. Throughout the decades, the Peacocks have experienced ups and downs, achieving notable successes in MAAC tournaments and making numerous NCAA Tournament appearances.
