RX Bandits History
RX Bandits, originally formed in 1995 in Seal Beach, California, started as a ska punk band but soon evolved their sound to incorporate a blend of progressive rock, reggae, and jazz influences. The band's lineup has experienced a few changes over the years, but the core members include vocalist/guitarist Matt Embree, bassist Chris Gaucher, drummer Joe Troy, saxophonist and keyboardist Steve Choi, and trombonist John M. Choney. Their debut album, 'Halfway Between Here and There,' released in 1998, marked their entry into the vibrant ska scene of the late '90s. They gained considerable momentum with their later albums, particularly 'Progress' (2001) and 'And the Battle Begun' (2006), which showcased their willingness to experiment with complex time signatures and lyrical depth. The band's live performances are renowned for their high energy and tight musicianship, often leaving audiences in awe. Over the years, RX Bandits built a loyal fan base, characterized by a shared appreciation for the band's progressive and genre-fusing style. The band went on extended hiatus in 2014 but reunited for a series of anniversary shows in 2016, reigniting interest and excitement for their live performances. They have also participated in various music festivals, contributing to their reputation as an incredible live band that thrives in dynamic environments and delivers unforgettable concert experiences.
