Rocket from the Crypt History
Rocket from the Crypt, formed in 1990 in San Diego, California, is an influential punk rock band known for their high-energy live performances and eclectic blend of musical styles, including punk, rock, and rockabilly. The band was founded by John Reis, who is also known for his work with other bands such as Drive Like Jehu and Hot Snakes. The original lineup included Reis on guitar and vocals, along with drummer Adam Willard, bassist and trumpeter Pete Reichert, guitarist and vocalist Apollo 9, and saxophonist and trombonist, which added a unique brass section to their sound. Their debut album, 'Paint as a Fragrance,' was released in 1991, and it quickly garnered attention for its raw energy and innovative sound. Over the years, Rocket from the Crypt built a reputation for their electrifying live shows, marked by Reis's charismatic stage presence and the band's lively interaction with the audience. They gained significant traction in the mid-1990s with albums like 'Scream, Dracula, Scream!' and 'RFTC,' which solidified their status in the punk rock scene. Despite going on hiatus in 2005, the band reunited for a series of live performances and festival appearances, rekindling their connection with fans and introducing their music to a new generation. Their ability to blend various musical influences while maintaining a punk ethos has kept them relevant in the music scene for over three decades, making their live shows a must-see experience for fans of dynamic and engaging performances.
