Rocket from the Crypt, formed in 1990 in San Diego, California, is an influential punk rock band known for their high-energy live performances and eclectic blend of musical styles, including punk, rock, and rockabilly. The band was founded by John Reis, who is also known for his work with other bands such as Drive Like Jehu and Hot Snakes. The original lineup included Reis on guitar and vocals, along with drummer Adam Willard, bassist and trumpeter Pete Reichert, guitarist and vocalist Apollo 9, and saxophonist and trombonist, which added a unique brass section to their sound. Their debut album, 'Paint as a Fragrance,' was released in 1991, and it quickly garnered attention for its raw energy and innovative sound.
