Rice Owls Baseball History
The Rice Owls baseball program, representing Rice University in Houston, Texas, was established in 1913. The team has a rich history and tradition of excellence in college baseball. Over the years, the Owls have achieved significant success, including multiple Conference USA championships, and they have consistently been a strong competitor in NCAA Division I baseball. The Owls are known for their impressive facilities, notably Reckling Park, which opened in 1997 and provides a state-of-the-art home for the team. Their first notable achievement came in the 1990s when they made numerous NCAA tournament appearances, but it was in the late 1990s and early 2000s that the program truly emerged as a national powerhouse. Under the leadership of Coach Wayne Graham, Rice won its first NCAA Championship in 1997, followed by another title in 2003.
