Passion Pit History
Passion Pit is an American indietronica band formed in 2007 by Michael Angelakos, while he was a student at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. The band initially began as a solo project for Angelakos, who recorded its debut EP, 'Chunk of Change,' which was named after a series of songs he wrote for his then-girlfriend. Released in 2008, the EP received significant acclaim and led to the formation of a full band. Their first full-length album, 'Manners,' came out in 2009, featuring hit singles like 'Sleepyhead' and 'The Reeling.' Known for their upbeat melodies and rich layer of sound that combines indie pop with electronic music, Passion Pit quickly gained a devoted following. Over the years, they have delivered memorable performances at major music festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Glastonbury, captivating audiences with their energetic live shows. Their use of an array of electronic instruments, combined with Angelakos's distinctive falsetto, has earned them a unique place in the music industry and set the stage for their continued success. Despite a hiatus from touring, the band returned with new music and re-engaged with their fan base. With their signature blend of joy and melancholy, Passion Pit's live performances remain a vibrant spectacle, showcasing both their musical evolution and their deep connection with audiences.
