    Novos Baianos History

Novos Baianos is a Brazilian musical group that emerged in the late 1960s in the city of Salvador, Bahia. The group was formed by a collective of musicians and artists, including the influential singer and songwriter Moraes Moreira, the guitarist and composer Paulinho Boca de Cantor, and the iconic percussionist and vocalist Baby do Brasil. The band's unique sound is a fusion of traditional Brazilian music genres such as samba, bossa nova, and MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), mixed with rock and folk influences. Their debut album, 'Novos Baianos F.C.,' released in 1973, showcased their innovative style and lyrical depth, quickly gaining them a devoted following. The group was known for their vibrant live performances, which often featured improvisation and a strong sense of community among the musicians and audience. Throughout the 1970s, Novos Baianos released several albums that solidified their status as a key player in the Brazilian music scene. However, as the group members pursued solo careers and faced the challenges of the music industry, the band went on a hiatus in the early 1980s. In the years that followed, their music continued to resonate with fans, leading to a resurgence of interest in their work. In 2019, Novos Baianos celebrated their 50th anniversary with a special reunion concert, bringing together original members and delighting fans with a nostalgic journey through their extensive catalog.
