Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks Hockey History
The Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks hockey program began in 1997 and quickly established itself as a competitive force in college hockey. The Mavericks were initially part of the NCAA Division I Independent ranks before joining the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) in 1999. In 2013, the Mavericks became a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), which has positioned them among elite college hockey programs. Over the years, the Mavericks have produced numerous NHL players, showcasing their ability to develop talent and compete at high levels. The team plays its home games at Baxter Arena, which opened in 2015, providing a state-of-the-art facility for fans and players alike.
