    About National Wrestling Alliance

Currently, the NWA is revitalizing its brand by producing weekly episodes of NWA Power, a wrestling television show that emphasizes in-ring action and character development, reminiscent of classic wrestling programming. They have also hosted several pay-per-view events, including the popular 'NWA 70th Anniversary Show' and 'NWA Hard Times' in 2020, which featured high-stakes matches and showcased a mix of established stars and emerging talent. The NWA has collaborated with various independent promotions, allowing for cross-promotional matches and expanding its reach within the wrestling community. Recent events have highlighted the resurgence of the NWA Women's Championship, underlining the organization's commitment to women's wrestling. The NWA's ongoing efforts to blend nostalgia with modern storytelling have attracted both longtime fans and new audiences, ensuring its relevance in the ever-evolving landscape of professional wrestling.

    National Wrestling Alliance History

The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) was founded in 1948 in Waterloo, Iowa, by a group of promoters who wanted to create a governing body to unify various regional wrestling promotions under a single championship. The organization aimed to bring legitimacy to professional wrestling and establish a hierarchy among wrestlers, with the NWA World Heavyweight Championship being the most prestigious title. The NWA thrived throughout the 1950s and 60s, becoming a central player in the wrestling scene by promoting major stars like Ric Flair, Harley Race, and Dory Funk Jr. The alliance's influence peaked in the 1980s when it was featured prominently on cable television, showcasing wrestling legends and iconic events. However, the rise of rival promotions like WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) in the 1990s led to a decline in the NWA's prominence. Despite this, the NWA continued to operate as a sanctioning body for independent promotions and maintained a loyal fan base. In 2017, the NWA underwent a revival under the ownership of Billy Corgan, lead singer of The Smashing Pumpkins, and began to produce new content, including weekly television shows and pay-per-view events, while also embracing its rich history in professional wrestling.
