MomoCon History
MomoCon originated in 2005 as a simple gathering of friends who shared a passion for anime, manga, and video games at the Georgia Institute of Technology. As it grew, the convention began to welcome a larger audience and incorporated additional elements such as panels, workshops, and cosplay competitions. By 2010, MomoCon was officially recognized as a convention, gaining traction in the southeastern U.S. fandom community. Over the years, it has expanded to encompass not just anime and video games, but also comics, cartoons, tabletop gaming, and more, becoming a multi-genre pop culture event. The name 'Momo' comes from the peach, Georgia’s state fruit, signifying the convention's roots in Atlanta. Each year, MomoCon has attracted a diverse array of guests and attendees, showcasing the growth of fandom and the intersection of different entertainment mediums, solidifying its position as one of the premier conventions in the U.S. dedicated to fan culture.
