Journey to the West History
Journey to the West, also known as Xiyouji, is a 16th-century Chinese novel attributed to the author Wu Cheng'en. It is considered one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. The novel chronicles the pilgrimage of the Buddhist monk Xuanzang, who travels to India to obtain sacred texts and return them to China. Accompanying him are four protectors: Sun Wukong (the Monkey King), Zhu Bajie (Pigsy), Sha Wujing (Sandy), and a dragon prince who transforms into a horse.
