Houndmouth History
Houndmouth is an American rock band that formed in 2011 in New Albany, Indiana. The group consists of Matt Myers, Zak Appleby, and Katie Toupin, who brought a unique blend of Americana, indie rock, and folk influences to the music scene. Their self-titled debut EP, released in 2012, showcased their harmonious vocals and storytelling prowess, quickly capturing the attention of listeners and critics alike. The band's breakthrough came with their first full-length album, 'From the Hills Below the City,' in 2013, which featured the hit single 'Sedona.' This album solidified their reputation and earned them slots at major music festivals, including Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. Over the years, Houndmouth has undergone lineup changes, with Toupin leaving the band in 2016 to pursue solo endeavors. Despite this, they continued to evolve their sound, releasing subsequent albums like 'Golden Age' in 2015 and 'Houndmouth' in 2019, which showcased their growth as artists while maintaining their roots in storytelling and rich harmonies. Their music has often been characterized by a mix of upbeat tunes and reflective lyrics, resonating with a wide audience and leading to a dedicated fanbase.
