Holding Absence History
Holding Absence is a Welsh post-hardcore band formed in 2015 in Cardiff. The group consists of vocalist Lucas Woodland, guitarist and backing vocalist Joseph Graves, bassist and keyboardist Callum Kearney, and drummer Ash Green. The origin of the band traces back to the music scene in Cardiff, where the members bonded over a shared passion for emotive music that blends elements of post-rock with post-hardcore. They quickly gained attention for their powerful sound and introspective lyrics. Their self-titled debut album released in 2017 showcased their ability to craft emotive melodies alongside heavy instrumentals, which resonated with both fans and critics alike. Over the years, Holding Absence has established themselves not just as a studio band but as a formidable live act. Their concerts are noted for their passionate performances, often leaving audiences in awe with Woodland’s emotionally charged vocals and the band's dynamic stage presence. As they toured across various festivals and venues in the UK and Europe, they built a dedicated fanbase, further solidified by their sophomore album 'The Lost and The Lonely', released in 2020. This album continued to explore themes of loss and self-discovery, with tracks that became staples of their live shows, intensifying the emotional connection with their audience.
