The Hops were formed as a result of the previous team, the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, relocating to Hillsboro. The team’s name, 'Hops,' is a nod to the region's rich agricultural history, particularly its hops farming, which is integral to the beer brewing process. The Hops play in the Northwest League and have quickly become a beloved fixture in the local sports scene. Their inaugural season was marked by immediate success, culminating in a Northwest League championship in 2014.
