    Despised Icon History

Despised Icon, a prominent name in the deathcore genre, emerged from Montreal, Canada, in 2002. They quickly distinguished themselves with their unique blend of brutal death metal and heavy hardcore influences. The band's lineup originally featured vocalists Alexandre Erian and Steve Marois, guitarist Yannick St-Amand, bassist Sebastien Piche, and drummer Alex Pelletier. They released their debut album, 'Consumed by Your Poison,' in 2002, which established their intense sound and lyrical themes focused on violence, death, and existentialism. Over the years, Despised Icon garnered a loyal fan base through their explosive live performances, characterized by a high level of energy and interaction with the audience. The band went on hiatus in 2010, but a reunion in 2014 reignited their career. They released 'Beast' in 2016, marking their return to recording with a more mature sound while maintaining the raw intensity fans loved. Historically, Despised Icon has played at numerous international music festivals, including Download Festival and Heavy Montreal, showcasing their powerful live presence that consistently captivates audiences.
