The Denver Pioneers men's ice hockey team is a NCAA Division I program representing the University of Denver. Established in 1949, the Pioneers have a storied history in college hockey. They quickly became a powerhouse in the early years, winning their first NCAA Championship in 1961. Under the leadership of legendary coaches like Murray Armstrong and George Gwozdecky, the program flourished, securing a total of eight national championships as of 2023, with their most recent title won in 2017. The Pioneers play their home games at Magness Arena, which opened in 1999 and has a seating capacity of about 6,000.
