Default History
Default is a Canadian rock band formed in 1999 in Vancouver, British Columbia. They achieved significant success in the early 2000s with their distinctive post-grunge sound. The band's lineup included vocalist and guitarist Dallas Smith, guitarist Jeremy Hora, bassist Dave Benedict, and drummer Brian Dobbs. Default’s debut album, *The Fallout*, released in 2001, generated considerable acclaim, propelled by hits like 'Wasting My Time' and 'Deny.' Their music was characterized by powerful guitar riffs, anthemic melodies, and introspective lyrics that resonated with a wide audience, particularly in the alternative rock scene. Following their initial success, Default continued to release albums, including *Elocation* (2003) and *The Fallout* (2001), solidifying their presence in the music industry. However, the band faced challenges in the mid-2000s, including lineup changes and shifts in musical trends, which led to a temporary hiatus. The resurgence of interest in early 2000s rock has brought Default back into the spotlight, allowing them to perform at various festivals and shows, connecting with both old and new fans.
