Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Football History
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers football program was established in 2003 and began competition in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The team quickly made a name for itself, achieving significant success within the Big South Conference. In 2010, the Chanticleers won their first conference title, which marked a pivotal moment in their football history. The team's mascot, the Chanticleer, is a rooster from Chaucer's 'The Canterbury Tales', symbolizing the school's bright and vibrant spirit. In 2017, Coastal Carolina transitioned to the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and joined the Sun Belt Conference, marking a new chapter in their athletic journey.
