    Wofford Terriers Basketball History

The Wofford Terriers men's basketball team, representing Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, has a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century. Established in 1889, the team has seen significant evolution over the years. Initially competing in various local leagues, Wofford began to gain prominence in the NCAA during the mid-20th century. The team became a member of the Southern Conference in 1997, which marked a turning point in its competitive landscape. Under the leadership of notable coaches like Mike Young, who took the helm in 2002, the Terriers began to make a name for themselves, culminating in their first NCAA tournament appearance in 2010. The program reached new heights in 2019 when they won their first Southern Conference Championship in 43 years and earned a spot in the NCAA tournament, where they famously upset the number 5 seed, Seton Hall. This victory not only solidified their reputation but also showcased the program's growth and potential on a national stage. Over the years, Wofford has produced several outstanding players, contributing to the school's legacy in collegiate basketball. The Terriers play their home games at the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium, which opened in 2017 and further enhances the game-day experience for fans and players alike.
