Caribou History
Caribou, the musical project led by Canadian musician Dan Snaith, began its journey in the early 2000s. Initially, Snaith released music under the name Manitoba, but after a legal dispute with another artist, he rebranded to Caribou. The debut album, 'Start Breaking My Heart,' was released in 2001, showcasing a blend of electronic, psychedelic pop, and experimental sounds that quickly gained attention. Over the years, Caribou evolved into a full-fledged live act, with Snaith performing with a band to bring his intricate studio creations to the stage. The sophomore album, 'The Milk of Human Kindness' (2005), further solidified his reputation, featuring complex arrangements and a distinctive sound that merges live instrumentation with electronic elements. Caribou's breakthrough came with the critically acclaimed 'Swim' (2010), which won the Polaris Music Prize and showcased their ability to captivate audiences with euphoric beats and immersive soundscapes. Snaith's innovative approach to live performances, incorporating visuals and dynamic arrangements, has made Caribou a sought-after act at festivals and concert venues worldwide. The band's latest album, 'Suddenly' (2020), continued this trend, with Snaith drawing from personal experiences to create an emotionally resonant live show that connects with fans on multiple levels.
