    Cal Poly Mustangs Basketball History

    The Cal Poly Mustangs men's basketball program is part of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, which was established in 1901. The team has a long and varied history, beginning as an intramural program before becoming a recognized NCAA Division I team in 1994. Initially competing in regional and small college tournaments, the Mustangs gradually gained prominence, particularly in the late 1990s and early 2000s when they moved to the Big West Conference. One of the highlights of their history came during the 2014-2015 season when they claimed the Big West Conference title and earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Over the years, the Mustangs have developed a reputation for their competitive spirit, producing several standout players who have gone on to have successful careers in professional basketball.
