The band was founded by vocalist Marq Torien, guitarist Mick Sweda, bassist Lonnie Vincent, and drummer Jimmy D'Anda. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1988, featured the hit single 'Smooth Up in Ya,' which propelled them into the limelight during the late '80s hair metal scene.
