Beherit History
Beherit is a Finnish black metal band formed in 1989 in the city of Rovaniemi. The band is known for its raw sound and dark, atmospheric music that blends elements of black metal with industrial and electronic influences. Their early work, including their debut album 'Drawing Down the Moon' released in 1993, established them as a notable act in the underground metal scene. Their music often incorporates themes of witchcraft, ancient rituals, and dark mythology, which resonated with fans of the genre. Over the years, Beherit has undergone several lineup changes, with the founding member, Nuclear Holocausto Vengeance (a.k.a. S. J. R. K.) remaining at the helm. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, the band went through periods of inactivity but remained influential in the black metal community, inspiring countless bands with their unique sound and aesthetic. In 2009, Beherit reunited and began performing live again, marking a significant return to the stage after years of dormancy.
