    About Anime Expo

In recent years, Anime Expo has continued to evolve and expand. Although the 2020 event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the convention successfully transitioned to a virtual format, allowing fans from around the world to participate in online panels, workshops, and cosplay events. As of 2022, Anime Expo returned in-person with a variety of health and safety measures in place, fostering a sense of community among attendees who cherish the experience of live events. The convention remains a significant platform for major announcements related to anime releases, with studios often choosing Anime Expo for their reveals and promotional activities. Current updates indicate that the 2023 edition is set to feature exclusive premieres, celebrated voice actors, and interactive experiences that keep fans engaged. Anime Expo remains a pivotal event for anyone passionate about anime, serving not only as a celebration of the genre but also as a vital hub for industry networking and fan interaction.

    Anime Expo History

Anime Expo, established in 1992, is one of the largest and most prominent anime conventions in North America. It was originally created by the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA) in Los Angeles. The first convention took place at the Los Angeles Airport Hilton with modest attendance, but it grew rapidly over the years. By 1996, the convention had moved to the Pasadena Convention Center, accommodating the increasing number of attendees and events. The event showcases a wide array of activities such as anime screenings, guest panels, cosplay competitions, and content related to Japanese pop culture, including manga, video games, and J-pop. Over the years, it has hosted numerous industry figures and celebrities from the anime world, solidifying its status as a key event for fans and professionals alike. By 2019, Anime Expo attracted over 115,000 attendees, marking a significant milestone for the convention. This growth reflects the broader acceptance and fanfare surrounding anime and Japanese culture in general.
