    AJJ History

AJJ, formerly known as Andrew Jackson Jihad, is an American folk-punk band formed in 2004 in Phoenix, Arizona. The band consists of vocalist and guitarist Sean Bonnette, bassist and vocalist Ben Gallaty, and drummer Preston Bryant. AJJ's music is characterized by its raw, emotional lyrics and its blend of punk rock with folk influences, often tackling themes of social justice, existential dread, and personal struggles. Their debut album, 'Can't Maintain,' was released in 2007 and garnered attention for its unique sound and poignant storytelling. Over the years, AJJ has released several albums, including 'People Who Can Eat People Are the Luckiest People in the World' and 'Christmas Island,' both of which solidified their place in the folk-punk genre. The band is known for its energetic live performances, which often feature a mix of humor and serious commentary, creating a unique atmosphere that resonates deeply with fans. AJJ's dedication to DIY ethics and their grassroots approach to music has earned them a loyal following, and they have played at various venues and festivals across the United States and beyond, continuously evolving their sound and message. The transition from their original name to AJJ was part of a broader effort to distance themselves from any political connotations associated with Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States, reflecting the band's growth and commitment to social awareness.
