Orange Bowl: Wisconsin Badgers vs. Miami Hurricanes
Hard Rock Stadium - Miami Gardens, FL
Wisconsin Badgers vs. Western Kentucky Hilltoppers
Camp Randall Stadium - Madison, WI
One of the charter members of the Big Ten conference, the Wisconsin Badgers have been playing big time football since 1889. While there have been periods of success throughout the history of the program, the golden age of Wisconsin Badgers football is now. Since Barry Alvarez took the reigns in 1990, the Badgers have been one of the best programs in the country.
In addition to the team’s success over the years, the Wisconsin Badgers boast two Heisman Trophy winners (Ron Dayne in 1999 and Alan Ameche in 1953) and routinely produce NFL talent. Current Badgers in the NFL include reigning Defensive Player of the Year, JJ Watt, rookie RB for the Denver Broncos [Montee Ball] and six-time Pro Bowler Joe Thomas of the Cleveland Browns.
Camp Randall Stadium
Among the oldest stadiums in the nation, historic Camp Randall stands on the grounds on an old Union Army training facility. With a seating capacity of more than 80,000 housing one of the most loyal fan bases in the sporting world, the Badgers enjoy a remarkable home field advantage (by most metrics, the Badgers are in the top 3 in that department.) The on-campus stadium is rich with history and is a must-visit for savvy sports fans.
The Rose Bowl
The Granddaddy of Them All (the Rose Bowl in Pasadena) traditionally hosts the winners of the Big Ten and the Pac-12 and, as such, is the mark of an exceptional season for a school like Wisconsin. Under Head Coach Bret Bielema, the Badgers earned bids to the Rose Bowl each of the last three years.
Aiming for a fourth consecutive Rose Bowl in 2013, the Badgers will have to adjust to a new coach. Coach Bielmea bolted Madison for the powerful SEC where he takes control at Arkansas and into the fire steps Gary Anderson who comes to Madison after four seasons at Utah State.
A New Era Begins
The good news for Anderson? The Badgers are absolutely loaded in all phases. Though they’ll have to contend for the Leaders Division of the Big Ten with Ohio State, the Badgers return 14 starters from a year ago. Though star RB Montee Ball is lacing ‘em up on Sundays from now on, James White should slip right into the featured role and dominate the power running game.
