About Thomas Rhett
Thomas Rhett is a renowned country music singer, best known for number one hits such as Get Me Some of That and It Goes Like This. He is also an accomplished songwriter who has written songs for well-known music artists including Florida Georgia Line, Lee Brice and Jason Aldean.
The country crooner released his third studio album Life Changes in September of 2017. The album was recorded during a very significant time in the singer’s life - when Rhett and his wife Lauren were awaiting the birth of their second child and were also in the middle of adopting a daughter from Africa. The record is a reflection of the singer’s state of life and hence very special to him.
While talking about Life Changes, Thomas Rhett stated, “I named the album Life Changes because my life has never changed this much in a short span of time. From seeing the success of a song like Die a Happy Man to putting out my third album to going on my first headlining tour to having two children, both under two years old… I thought the title of the album was a good representation of what is happening in my life right now.”
Rhett is now gearing up for a promotional tour of Life Changes. Joining him on the road as support acts are Brett Young and Jillian Jacqueline. To ensure your presence at the highly anticipated concerts, purchase your Thomas Rhett tickets before they sell out.
Early Days
Thomas Rhett was born on March 30, 1990, in Valdosta, Georgia. He is the son of the legendary country music artist Rhett Akins. Rhett learnt to play the drums during his junior high school days and soon began playing as part of a punk band called The High Heeled Flip Flops. He later attended the Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. Rhett was twenty years old when he dropped out of college to pursue a career in the music industry.
The Beginning
Nashville was no stranger to Rhett as his father was an established name there. Once in Nashville, Rhett became a member of the renowned songwriting team, The Peach Pickers, which produced hits for singers including Brooks & Dunn and Blake Shelton. During one of his performances with his father, Rhett caught the attention of an executive from Big Machine Label group who approached him for a songwriting contract. Rhett accepted and began writing songs for the company. In a very short time, he evolved into one of the most sought after songwriters in the industry, sharing credentials on hits such as I Ain’t Ready to Quit off Jason Aldean’s multi-platinum album, My Kinda Party. The song was listed among Top 40 on the Billboard 200 for a consistent 21 weeks.
Rhett continued to co-write hit singles for numerous artists over the following years. These include Round Here by Florida Georgia Line, Parking Lot Party by Lee Brice and 1994 by Jason Aldean.
Debut Album
Having gained recognition as a songwriter, Thomas Rhett now wanted to make his debut as a singer and several labels were interested to sign him. Eventually he signed a deal with Big Machine Records in 2010.
Thomas Rhett’s debut single titled Something To Do With My Hands came out in the year 2012. It reached the nineteenth spot on the Country Singles chart. The following year, the singer released his debut studio record It Goes Like This. Rhett’s father co-wrote the title song with Jimmy Robbins and Ben Hayslip. It scored the number one spot on the country radio charts.
While speaking of the success the single brought him, Rhett said in an interview with Chicago Tribune, “I think we were both in shock that my first #1 was written by him,” “You can't plan that kind of thing out. He was so pumped. He was over the moon proud of me. I remember him saying 'Dude, you were meant to do this. We were meant to do this together. God had it all planned out.' For a dad to say that, those words will stick with me forever.’”
Contributions
In April of 2015, Thomas Rhett released the single Crash and Burn. It served as the lead song of his second studio record Tangled Up, which hit the shelves in September of the same year. The record reached the top spot on the Country Airplay chart. Its second single Die a Happy Man topped the Hot Country Songs, Canada Country as well as the Country Airplay charts where it occupied the top spot for eight consecutive weeks.
Life Changes is the most recent album by the country crooner. It comprises the chart topping song Craving You, which also features Maren Morris. Among other songs on the album is the top ten hit Unforgettable.
