    The Ocean Blue History

The Ocean Blue is an American alternative rock band that was formed in 1986 in Erie, Pennsylvania. The band consists of members David Schelzel, who is the lead vocalist and guitarist, along with his brother, guitarist, and vocalist, and other bandmates who joined later. They gained prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their lush soundscapes and introspective lyrics, which were characteristic of the jangle pop and dream pop genres. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1989, featuring the hit single 'Between Something and Nothing'. The band’s sound is often compared to that of contemporaries like The Smiths and R.E.M., combining melodic guitar work with poignant lyrics. Over the years, The Ocean Blue has released several albums, including 'Cerulean' and 'Beneath the Rhythm and Sound'. After a hiatus in the early 2000s, they reunited and continued to tour and produce music, showcasing their enduring appeal in the indie music scene. Their nostalgic and ethereal sound appeals to both long-time fans and newer audiences discovering their music for the first time.
