This is the definition of a romantic production. From the music, which Entertainment Weekly describes as “lush and deeply romantic,” to the chemistry between cast members, you’re sure to feel all gushy inside after seeing The Bridges of Madison County. In what can only be called a coincidence, Francesa Johnson, a simple Iowa farm girl, meets Robert Kincaid, an up and coming photographer for National Geographic. What stars as happenstance turns into full blown romance that can be felt from any seat in the house.
Steven Pasquale plays the lead as Robert Kincaid. Television fans might remember Pasquale from his days as a firefighter on the hit show Rescue Me. He’s also been a key part of the casts in Fat Pig, A Soldier’s Play, Far From Heaven, and more. The other lead is played by Kelli O’Hara, who completely owns the role of Francesa Johnson. O’Hara is well known to Broadway fans and has four Tony nominations under her belt. The production is directed by Bartlett Sher.
The Bridges of Madison County is now playing on Broadway at the Schoenfeld Theatre, located at 236 West 45th Street. Also known to some as the Plymough Theatre, Schoenfeld first opened it’s doors to the public in 1918. The property, which seats 1,080 patrons, was designated a New York City Landmark in 1987, forever preserving this piece of Broadway.
