    Stray Cats History

The Stray Cats emerged from Long Island, New York, in 1979, spearheading the revival of rockabilly music. With founders Brian Setzer, Lee Rocker, and Slim Jim Phantom, they blended a modern rock sound with retro 1950s vibes, creating a unique style that captivated audiences worldwide. Their debut album, 'Stray Cats', released in 1981, featured hits like 'Runaway Boys' and 'Rock This Town', establishing them as a prominent band in the early 1980s music scene. Their energizing live performances, characterized by Setzer's outstanding guitar skills and charismatic stage presence, contributed to their popularity. The band enjoyed several hits throughout their career, including 'Stray Cat Strut' and 'She's Sexy + 17', and after breaking up in 1993, they reunited multiple times, continuing to delight fans with their high-energy concerts. Their influence on rockabilly and rock music remains significant, inspiring new generations of artists. The era of the 1980s saw them touring extensively across the globe, from small clubs to big festivals, bringing rockabilly music back into the mainstream, where it thrived thanks to their dynamic live shows.
