Early Life
The comedian hailing from Texas was always a storyteller. From an early age he was interested in telling humorous stories and would perform in comedy clubs or wherever he got the opportunity to perform at. Though these gigs got him appreciation, they did not make him a star. However, these comedy routines earned White enough money to pay his bills. White started professional comedy in 1987 and during the initial years he struggled to make a breakthrough but didn’t give in.
Blue Collar Comedy Tour and Mainstream Success
After the initial struggles, fortunes finally turned for White in January 2000. This was when he got the opportunity to perform with Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Larry the Cable Guy in the celebrated “Blue Collar Comedy Tour.” It turned out to be a big hit and gave several sold out shows in more than 90 cities, grossing over $15 million. The tour was a phenomenal success and was documented by Warner Bros. It was later released as the “Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie” a major motion picture in March, 2003. It also premiered on Comedy Central and went on to be the highest rated movie in the channel’s history. This tour brought White the much needed attention, but confident in his abilities, he still chose to pursue the independent route.
Ron White – A Star in his own Right
Though White continued to work with the Blue Collar Group, he decided to make his own niche in the industry. He worked to develop his own brand of comedy. White came up with his first solo comedy CD, Drunk in Public in November 2003. It managed to stay on the Billboard's Top Ten Comedy list for months. The year was a good one for White as his very first one-hour comedy special, “They Call Me Tater Salad” became Comedy Central’s highest rated Sunday special. This marked his standing in the comic industry that welcomed his blunt comedy style.
White’s second one-hour special on Comedy Central titled, “You Can't Fix Stupid” was another success. The album released in 2006 made it to number one on the Billboard Top Comedy Albums chart. It also got him nominated for a Grammy Award. The same year White got his second Grammy nomination for “Blue Collar Comedy Tour - One for The Road” and also published his book, titled, I Had the Right to Remain Silent…But I Didn’t Have the Ability, which appeared on New York Times Best Seller List.
This string of successes proved that Ron White had the mettle to make it to the top on his own. He had the talent and the right attitude and most importantly a loyal fan base. Once he found his direction, there was no looking back for him.

Ron White is known for his unique style of comedy that he developed over the years.
