Originally called the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena and the RBC Center, PNC Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. Work began on the arena in the summer of 1997, and it opened to the public in fall of 1999. PNC Arena is the home arena of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes and NCAA Division I North Carolina State University Wolfpack men’s basketball team, but it has other uses, as well. As a state of the art arena, it is also a very attractive venue for large concerts and shows. Since PNC Arena opened in the fall of 1999, is has hosted more than 1,500 events, including multiple NHL Stanley Cup Finals, Disney on Ice, NCAA and Conference Basketball Tournaments, Paul McCartney, Patti LaBelle, Pavarotti, Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, USHRA Monster Jam, and the NHL Entry Draft.
