UTSA Roadrunners Women's Volleyball History
The UTSA Roadrunners Women's Volleyball program was established in 1979, beginning a journey through the NCAA landscape that has seen considerable growth and development over the decades. Initially part of the Trans America Athletic Conference (TAAC), the team experienced a variety of obstacles and achievements during its formative years. In the early 2000s, the program began to gain traction, regularly competing in the Southland Conference, which offered a more competitive environment. The team hit a significant milestone in 2011 when they joined Conference USA (C-USA), resulting in increased visibility and competition. Under the leadership of various head coaches, the Roadrunners have developed a strong recruiting strategy that emphasizes both athletic and academic excellence. Over the years, the program has produced standout players who have left a mark both in the conference and nationally. The rise of volleyball as a popular sport amongst female athletes in Texas, coupled with the Roadrunners' commitment to excellence, has laid a strong foundation for future success.
