    UTEP Miners Women's Basketball History

    The UTEP Miners Women's Basketball team has a rich history that dates back to its establishment in 1975. Originally a part of the AIAW (Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women), the program became a member of the NCAA when it was formed in 1982. Over the years, the Miners have made significant strides in the sport, achieving multiple conference titles and NCAA tournament appearances. Under the leadership of different coaches, the team has cultivated a reputation for resilience and competitive spirit. Notably, the Miners won their first NCAA tournament game in 1989, marking a new era of recognition for the program. The team has a tradition of generating local support and pride, playing games in the historic Don Haskins Center, which serves as a hub for fans and students alike. Through the decades, the program has experienced ups and downs but has remained committed to developing talented young athletes and promoting women’s basketball in the region.
