    Notre Dame Fighting Irish Women's Volleyball History

    The Notre Dame Fighting Irish women's volleyball program was established in 1980, marking the beginning of a journey that would see the team become a prominent force in collegiate volleyball. The early years of the program were characterized by growth and development, as the squad worked to establish itself within the competitive landscape of NCAA Division I volleyball. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, the Fighting Irish steadily improved their performance, culminating in their first NCAA tournament appearance in 1997. The team's success continued to build, with the Fighting Irish making multiple NCAA tournament appearances in the following years, including reaching the Sweet Sixteen in 1998. Under the leadership of various head coaches, including the legendary Debbie Brown, who coached from 1991 to 2010, the program developed a reputation for excellence, both on and off the court. In 2005, the Fighting Irish achieved a record of 26 wins, which remains one of the best in program history, further solidifying their position in NCAA volleyball.
